Physicians, their care teams and the greater Columbus community are invited
to an Open House on Friday, March 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Central Ohio Urology Group physicians will introduce the practice’s new da Vinci Xi Surgical System from Intuitive Surgical, Inc., the global leader in robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery.
The Open House will include tours of the Robotic Surgery Institute at Central Ohio Urology Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art, urology-specific ambulatory surgery center, as well as tours of the outpatient clinic and imaging suite, at 701 Tech Center Drive in Gahanna. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the robot and test their driving skills on the da Vinci simulator.
The new Robotic Surgery Institute was recently the site of one of the first robotic prostatectomies in the nation to be performed at an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and the first in Central Ohio. There are less than five ASCs in the country currently offering robotic urologic surgeries like prostatectomy. The prostate cancer patient was able to go home the same day as the robotic surgery. Ronney Abaza, M.D., F.A.C.S., one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the world, assisted by one of his physician partners at Central Ohio Urology Group, performed the surgery.
Jason Guagenti, Chief Operating Officer of Central Ohio Urology Group, stated, “We are excited to welcome our referring physician partners, their care teams and the greater Columbus community to visit our Robotic Surgery Institute and see our new da Vinci Xi System. We have invested in the most advanced technology available today to enable access to the best possible urological care from our expert team of robotic surgeons. Since opening the Robotic Surgery Institute in late 2021, there has been tremendous demand from patients within the region and across the nation for urological surgeries performed in our outpatient surgery center.”
With a clinical network of 15 offices, Central Ohio Urology Group is the region’s leading provider of comprehensive urological services, including general urology, men’s health, women’s health, cancer care, advanced cancer treatment and radiation oncology.
The robotic surgery team at Central Ohio Urology Group has collectively performed over 10,000 surgeries and includes Ronney Abaza, M.D., John K. Burgers, M.D., Jeffrey M. Carey, M.D., Kyle M. Lester, D.O., Benjamin J. Martin, M.D., Andrew M. Ng, M.D., Rashmi “Rush” I. Patel, M.D., E. Bradley Pewitt, M.D., Ph.D., Matthew R. Riebel, M.D. and Stephen R. Vijan, M.D.
The Central Ohio Urology Surgery Center is pleased to offer patients the benefits of outpatient robotic surgery for robotic procedures that include, but are not limited to: prostatectomy, nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, pyeloplasty/ureteral reconstruction and sacrocolpopexy. The facility at 701 Tech Center Drive in Gahanna, Ohio, is less than five minutes from the Columbus Airport with shuttle service and accommodations available for out-of-town patients traveling for robotic surgery.
